Page a Day.

Terms of service.

Last updated 10 September 2026

Page a Day hosts official book clubs: authors and publishers run them, readers join them and talk about books in the margins. These are the rules for using it.

Who does what

  • Readers join clubs, read, and write notes. Reading and joining are free. Readers never pay us.
  • Authors and publishers pay to run official Book Clubs around their own titles. Plans are annual and charged per title.
  • We host it and stay out of the way. We are not a party to what happens inside a club beyond keeping the platform running and enforcing these terms.

Your account

You need an account to write anything. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account — do not share logins, and do not create an account for someone else.

You can close your account at any time from your account page. What that deletes and what it leaves behind is set out on that screen and in our Privacy Policy.

Page Keys

A Page Key unlocks one book for one account. Keys are issued by the author or publisher of that book, not by us. Redeeming a key gives you personal access to read that book and take part in its club — it is not a licence to copy, republish, or redistribute the text.

Keys are tied to the account that redeems them. Do not sell, share, or publish a key. We may void keys that have obviously been distributed publicly.

What you write

Your notes, replies and questions are yours. You keep the rights to them. By posting them here you give us the permission we need to store and display them to the people in that club — nothing more.

You are responsible for what you write. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, or harassing; do not post other people's personal information; and do not paste the text of a book you do not have the right to reproduce. Quoting a passage to discuss it is normal and fine. Reproducing a chapter is not.

What authors and publishers upload

If you publish a book here, you are telling us you have the right to. You keep all rights in your work — we take only the permission needed to host it, show it to readers you have given access to, and display your cover and description on the public parts of the site.

You are responsible for what you run inside your own club: your guide, your prompts, your moderation. Co-hosts you appoint act on your behalf.

Moderation

Hosts moderate their own clubs and can hide or remove notes there. We can remove content or suspend an account that breaks these terms — we would rather ask first, and usually will, but we will act immediately where someone is being harmed.

Paying

Plans are annual, per title, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your full card details.

Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not refund the year you are in. Refunds are covered in full on the Refunds page: if you paid and never launched the club, we refund it; once it is live, we do not.

If a payment fails we will keep your club running while the card is retried, and tell you. We will not quietly cut your readers off mid-book over a billing problem.

If a club closes

An author can unpublish or delete their club, and a plan can lapse. If that happens, readers lose access to that club and the book it hosted. We are not able to keep a book available after the person who owns it has stopped publishing it.

Availability

We work hard to keep this up and we will not pretend it is infallible. The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Where the law lets us limit our liability, we do; where it does not — including for death, personal injury, or fraud — we do not.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will say so by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Page a Day after that means the new terms apply.
